Ensuring Aviation Safety through Surveillance and Enforcement
Continuous surveillance and enforcement are key components of aviation safety. To ensure that regulated entities continue to comply with Singapore’s aviation safety legislation and requirements, CAAS puts in place a safety oversight system with a robust enforcement framework that deters contraventions, as well as surveillance activities such as regular safety audits and inspections.
We collect and analyse safety data from surveillance activities, and through a more data-driven and risk-based approach, identify potential safety concerns to strengthen our safety oversight system.
While ensuring aviation safety, we also seek to optimise our surveillance efforts and reduce the need for the industry to comply with multiple sets of requirements. Mutual recognition of another country’s certification is accomplished through alignment of our regulatory requirements with international standards and best practices.
