Singapore joined the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) as a Contracting State on 20 May 1966, following its independence in 1965. Within the global aviation framework of ICAO and through close cooperation with ICAO Member States, Singapore has and continues to contribute actively to the advancement of safe, efficient and sustainable global aviation.
