1 August 2023
CAAS invites Singaporeans to join the aviation sector
and propel the Changi air hub into its next phase of growth
The OneAviation Careers fair will return for a second year from 4 to 5 August 2023 at the Suntec City Convention Centre. The second edition of the aviation sector-wide career and recruitment fair will be bigger, with almost double the number of exhibitors and event space compared to last year’s fair, which attracted over 11,000 job seekers and aviation enthusiasts. The OneAviation Careers fair is organised by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), in partnership with the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC), NTUC’s e2i (Employment and Employability Institute), and Workforce Singapore (WSG).
2 Themed “Join Us: Together We Will Take Singapore Aviation to Greater Heights”, the OneAviation Careers fair 2023 will be bigger with fresh elements to showcase the new employment and education opportunities the Singapore aviation sector offers:
a) Over 4,000 sqm of event space, double that of 2022.
b) Close to 40 exhibitors, almost a doubling of the 21 exhibitors in the first edition, involving all key players in the aviation ecosystem - airport, airline, government, air cargo, aviation education, aerospace, air traffic management and unmanned systems (refer to Annex A for the list of exhibitors).
c) A special OneAviation showcase featuring key technology and innovation efforts.
d) A new Aviation Education Zone showcasing aviation education pathways and programmes and skills upgrading opportunities for students and working professionals.
e) Talks by recruiting companies where in-service employees reveal first-hand insights into various aspects of work life and opportunities in their respective organisations (refer to Annex B for details on the company talks).
3 Other key highlights of the OneAviation Careers fair include:
a) Themed Career Talks
Through specially curated career talks, visitors can learn more about the ambition and key initiatives for the future of aviation in Singapore. The talks will be helmed by aviation experts and in-service industry professionals who will share diverse insights and perspectives in areas of airside and cargo operations, decarbonising the aviation sector, new frontiers in aviation technology and the world-class Changi Experience (refer to Annex C for details on the themed career talks).
b) Recruitment Fair
Jointly organised with NTUC’s e2i, job seekers and aviation enthusiasts seeking a career in aviation can connect with more than 20 aviation employers and participate in walk-in interviews to secure more than 1,700 vacancies available. Jobs are available in the areas of operations, engineering and service (refer to Annex D for the list of employers conducting on-site interviews). Interested job seekers can pre-register for an on-site interview at https://e2i.sg/OACH23. Walk-ins are subject to the availability of interview slots.
c) On-site Career Advisory and Guidance
At the event, individuals can approach WSG’s Career Coaches for personalised career advisory and guidance on job search strategies such as interview preparation, resume writing, and career planning tips.
4 Mr Han Kok Juan, Director-General of the CAAS said, “We put together the first-ever aviation sector-wide career and recruitment fair last year to rekindle interest in the aviation sector after two very difficult COVID years. The fair attracted over 11,000 job seekers and aviation enthusiasts. The strong participation of companies and education institutions in this second edition, almost double the number of exhibitors we had last year, is testament to the success of this effort, our hope in the future and the great demand for Singaporeans to join our ranks as we work together to take Singapore aviation to greater heights.”
5 Deputy Secretary-General of NTUC, Ms Cham Hui Fong said, “NTUC looks forward to supporting the growth of the Air Hub and to work with the Aviation sector to better the wages and work prospects of the workers. Through Company Training Committees, companies should also work closely with unions as they transform their businesses, to help workers adapt and keep pace with the changing environments, reskilling, and training workers in new areas.”
6 NTUC e2i’s Chief Executive Officer, Ms Caryn Lim said, “e2i is proud to be a part of the OneAviation Careers fair and is here to support all job seekers - fresh graduates or mid-career switchers - who aspire to be part of the revitalised aviation sector. We strongly encourage job seekers to take advantage of e2i’s suite of employment and employability services, including curated resources like the OneAviation Careers Hub, to chart their career paths.”
7 Ms Dilys Boey, Chief Executive of WSG said, “WSG is happy to partner CAAS on manpower development as the sector is well poised for growth. Through the OneAviation Careers fair, individuals interested in entering the sector will be better supported to navigate the many career opportunities within the sector, and understand how to better prepare themselves for new and emerging job roles. I encourage individuals to explore personalised career advisory by career coaches, or MyCareerFuture digital tools aimed at uncovering career opportunities, and jumpstart a fulfilling career within the aviation sector.”
8 The OneAviation Careers fair is open to the public from 9.30am to 5.30pm, on 4 and 5 August 2022, at Suntec City Convention Centre, Level 4, Hall 404 and 405. For more information, visit https://oneaviationcareers.caas.gov.sg/.
