Aviation Foundation Programme (former Civil Aviation Management Programme)

The success of civil aviation growth is dependent on the foundational knowledge and skills of aviation professionals. This course will prepare future leaders to manage a broad spectrum of air transport issues across multiple domains by providing an overview of the civil aviation sector, its major elements, and their interfaces in an integral eco-system. This programme, now called the Aviation Foundation Programme (AFP), was formerly known as the Civil Aviation Management Programme.

This course is divided into 2 broad areas:

1. Developing an Air Hub - examines the international context of aviation including the economics and strategies for development of a successful air hub. 

2. Regulations and Future of Aviation - examines the role of aviation regulations and air traffic management including future developments in air traffic management.

Upon completion of the course, you will be able to:

Developing an Air Hub

  • Correlate how each component of the aviation ecosystem interacts with one another for the development of an air hub
  • Analyse aviation management policies and strategies from the perspective of state/regulator, airport, and airline
  • Examine the considerations and trade-offs involved in the development of an air hub
  • Acquire new management perspectives to better develop aviation policies

Regulations and Future of Aviation

  • Correlate how each component of the aviation ecosystem interacts with one another for safe and secure air transport operations
  • Analyse aviation policies and strategies from the perspective of safety, security, and air traffic management
  • Examine future developments of the aviation sector
