Warm-up stretch – Aviation Run 2015 participants with Mrs Josephine Teo, Senior Minister of State, Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Transport, Mr Kevin Shum, Director-General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore, and Mr Robert Chew, Honorary Treasurer of Community Chest.

Coming together as one community with one passion, some 4,700 members of the Singapore aviation community and their families from over 100 organizations participated in the 4th biennial Aviation Run – a record-setting number of participants. Held at the Singapore Sports Hub on 14th November, the event was graced by Mrs Josephine Teo, Senior Minister of State, Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Transport.

Spearheaded by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), the Aviation Run is a key event under Aviation Community Cares, a platform which brings the aviation community together to contribute to society in meaningful ways throughout the year. This year, the Aviation Run raised S$250,000 for the Community Chest, which will go towards supporting some 80 charities under the umbrella of Community Chest.

Mr Kevin Shum, Director-General of CAAS, said: “It is a privilege to be part of a community that cares for and supports those who are less fortunate. The aviation community has come together to raise more than S$1 million for the Community Chest over the last six years. CAAS is honoured to be able to help play a part for this worthwhile effort by the aviation community.”

The local aviation community gave their utmost support of this worthy cause as well. “We are extremely pleased to be able to support the Aviation Run organised by CAAS,” said Mr Ivan Ho, Managing Director, Airbus Group Singapore Pte Ltd. “This event really benefits society through the great work of the various charities sponsored by the Community Chest and we are happy to be able to contribute to this cause.”
