Singapore and Kazakhstan Collaborate on Aviation Training

1 March 2024

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan (AAK) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on aviation training to support the growth of the aviation sector. The MOU was signed by Mr Han Kok Juan, Director-General of CAAS, and Mr Catalin Radu, Director-General of AAK, on 19 February 2024 on the sidelines of the Changi Aviation Summit.

2       Under the MOU, Singapore and Kazakhstan will work together on the delivery of in-region, customised aviation training programmes in Kazakhstan. The programmes which will be conducted by the Singapore Aviation Academy (SAA), the training arm of CAAS, will be open to civil aviation personnel from Kazakhstan and Europe. The training programmes will be in areas such as aviation safety and aviation management. They will help Kazakhstan build up the next generation of aviation professionals to support its plans to grow airline and airport capacity and establish Kazakhstan as a transport and logistics hub of Central Asia. Both civil aviation authorities will also share knowledge and expertise through regular exchanges and study visits.

3        Mr Han Kok Juan, Director-General of CAAS said, “The signing of the MOU marks a milestone in the deepening of Singapore-Kazakhstan civil aviation collaboration. CAAS is honoured by AAK’s trust and confidence in the training programmes SAA offers. CAAS is deeply committed to supporting the development of the next generation of aviation professionals. In the next phase of SAA development, we will do more in-region training outside Singapore through partnerships with other States. This will extend SAA’s outreach and allow more to benefit from our training programmes.”

3        Mr Catalin Radu, Director-General of AAK said, “People represent our most important asset. Investing in the next generation of aviation professionals means investing in their future growth and success. The signing of the MoU between AAK and CAAS marks a milestone, with Kazakhstan working with one of the top leading aviation organisations in the world. As an alumnus of the Singapore Aviation Academy, I have witnessed the strong impact that CAAS has played in shaping the future of aviation professionals all over the world. I am honoured and proud that we have become a trusted partner of the Singapore aviation community.”
